During the online product exam we test your knowledge within the chosen part of the exam area. The exam consists of multiple choice, open questions and a case. You need to score a minimum of 6 for the exam.

During the interview we will discuss your product portfolio, your online product exam and we will also further question your knowledge about the chosen sub-area.

#1 Bring your own product portfolio

Bring your portfolio with you from the training at POPM global or create your own portfolio with the exam preparation of BOVPM.

We will assess your portfolio and compare it against branch standard. If your portfolio is assessed satisfactorily, you can proceed to the next step.

If your product portfolio is not yet sufficient, you need to complete it and submit it again.

Exam preparation

#2 Prepare yourself as best you can

During the exam preparation you have the opportunity to prepare yourself for the online exam and also directly for the final interview.

You must properly prepare the theory about the chosen exam theme and you must be able to substantiate your portfolio during the final interview.

Online Product exam

#3 Do you have enough knowledge?

During the online product exam we test your knowledge within the chosen part of the exam area.

The exam consists of multiple choice, open questions and a case. You need to score a minimum of 6 for the exam.

This score is added together with the score of the portfolio and the grade of the final interviewee and must be a pass on average.

The final interview

#4 Defend your product knowledge

During the interview you need to demonstrate your product knowledge to an experienced product manager.

During the interview we will discuss your product portfolio, your online product exam and we will also further question your knowledge about the chosen sub-area.

Make sure you prepare well so that you are not faced with surprises.

Why should I get certified through BOVPM?

With the independent BOVPM certification you can demonstrate that you have the required product knowledge and skills.

You can use the certification when applying for a new job, but also to grow into a new position.

With the certification you show what you value. and shows how you distinguish yourself from other product managers

What is the National Product Exam Standard?

BOVPM, together with leading product managers in the Netherlands and beyond, has developed an exam standard, an independent standard consisting of competences, sub-competences and skills.

When you take an exam with us, we test your experience and skills against this measuring standard. If you succeed, you will meet these strict requirements and show that you have the right skills and experience.

What can I do with a BOVPM Certification?

First of all, the BOVPM certification is for yourself. You will receive recognition for your experience and skills.

In addition, you can use the certification for example during your applications or you can use it to further grow within your current job or organization.

In addition, the BOVPM certifications ensure that you remain sharp and challenged

How many certifications can I get?

In total you can obtain 40 part certifications and 3 main certifications.

BOVPM has divided the main certifications into competences and sub-competences.

You can already obtain a certification at sub-competence level.

BOVPM has consciously opted for small and flexible parts. This means you can only get the certifications that fit you best.

But of course you can also obtain all partial certifications.

What happens if I fail my exam?

That’s okay, that can of course happen.

You can just try again. We do advise you to practice well and to take part in the exam preparation again if necessary.

Is training mandatory?

No, a training is not mandatory, but because you do have to submit a portfolio for your BOVPM exam, we advise you to either participate in the training with our partner POPM Global or to use the BOVPM exam training.

During the exam training you also create a portfolio that you can use for your certification.
